Feelings of emptyness are usually because you don't have a relationship with your own soul. It's something that has to be developed. You have to spend time with your soul (meditating) to establish that relationship, you can't just wish for it.
Here is a simple meditation that Guru Gobind Singhs mother did. It uses the Guru mantra, Wahe Guru.
Sit cross-legged with the spine straight. Look at the tip of your nose. This will make you sort of cross eyed, and it will hurt slightly for about 30 seconds, then it will be comfortable. Breathe long deep breaths through the nose, not the mouth. On each inhale, mentally hear the Whaaaa. On each exhale, mentally hear Guruuuu. You are not saying it out loud, just in your mind.
Do this every day for at least 11 minutes, but 31 minutes would be better. You can do it up to 2 1/2 hours daily. It will give you a lot of peace, and you will understand what life and death are. It might make you drowsy because it relaxes you, but keep going and you will reach the treasure.
