Is there a single codified way of taking the hukam from Sri Guru Granth Sahib? If it is what is it? Why are most hukamnamas / vaaks from pages 700 - 900 of Sri Guru Granth Sahib?

Thank you for your help in answering this inquiry

A hukamnama is taken by opening the Siri Guru Granth Sahib to a random page and including the shabad on the left page (which often starts on the preceding page, in which case you turn back a page and start at the beginning). You can find more details in Victory & Virtue. As far as most hukamnamas being from pages 700-900, my guess is that this is a known 'safe' area - some people have an aversion to reading the longer hukamnamas that are to be found in other areas of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib. Also, there is probably a natural tendency to open the Siri Guru Granth Sahib to somewhere near the middle.

Humbly,
Mangala Sadhu Sangeet Singh
