Dear Sirs

I have been studying several faiths in detail over a period of about 3 years now and have concluded that I wish to follow the Sikh way of life. I am contemplating taking 'Amrit' to make myself officially recognised as a Sikh. However in studying and trying to understand the Guru Granth Sahib I have come across a couple of issues which seem to be the point of much debate among Sikhs. One issue which is confusing me is basically as follows: The Priest at my local Gurudwara has warned me not to take 'Amrit shakna' from an enlightened Sant in India. I was introduced to this Mahatma by a friend - and ever since I have met him (on three separate occasions) everything he has said or warned me about has come true - he has even cured my asthma & hayfever from which I have suffered for 11 years! He has blessed my friend & his family with wealth and happiness - whatever they seem to ask him for he gives them - they do much 'seva' and 'simran' in return. Why is the Priest telling me not to become a disciple of the

Sant - who my friends beleive is God himself in a human body - just like the 10 Guru's were. This Sant follows the Guru Granth Sahib 100%. The Priest tells me not to follow anyone with a human body - but all the Sikh Guru's had a human body with enlightened souls. I have studied the Guru Granth Sahib in depth for the answer - but nowhere does it say NOT to follow a Sant - in fact it encourages people to find an enlightened soul and do 'Sachi sangat'. Please explain this contradiction - this is very important to me. Thank you.
Yes, we follow only the direction of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib. So, follow your Guru and do what the Guru advises. Some people live in control and worry and doubt. If you truely follow the Guru, then you will be clear that you are not following a "man" but the direction of your Guru, which has no limit.
