Respected Sir

Is it necessary to keep the lights & fans on in the room where Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji is kept.Isn't it ok to put off thelights & fans after we have done the path & closed the holy book in the night. We have made a small Gurudwara in our house itself. Please justify clearly if you feel that the fans, lights mosquito mats etc are to be kept on as Holy book is not made of skin & bones. Thanks

Regards

(REPLY) Sat Nam. When the Siri Guru Granth Sahib is in Sukhasan, then lights are not necessary, nor are fans, assuming that the Guru has been properly covered with appropriate ramalas. I would like to suggest however that though the Shabd Guru is "not made of skin and bones," it is our LIVING Guru, and not just a "holy book." The more experience we have of the reality of the living presence of the Shabd Guru, the more we will recognize it as being far more than pages of paper and ink that are used to allow us to recite and hear the Guru's Word. blessings, SP
