If you cut your hair and shave your beard you will be an "ice cream" Sikh. Seriously, the Guru called those people "manmukh"; one who follows their own mind rather than the Guru.

A Sikh is required not to cut or shave their hair on any part of the body. If you want to be accepted and recognized as a Sikh, keeping uncut hair is a requirement.
