Having IVF treatment due to infertility is against sikhism ? Please reply

Sat Nam! No, it's not against Sikhi. My wife and I have two beautiful sons, 13 and 23. My wife also has an infertiity problem. We prayed for children for many years (we are now married 33 years) and after many miscarriages and an ectopic pregnancy, we decided to do IVF. My wife got pregnant through IVF but we lost the child in the third month of the pregnancy.

All our prayers were answered by Guru Ram Das.

Both our sons are adopted and they are both such a blessing! Both children came to us only from the power of our prayers, and both souls were destined to be with us so that we could serve them as parents.

May your prayers be answered. It matters not how your children come to you. They are Guru's gift to you.

Sat Siri Akaal. I admit this is a tough question. Are you ALTERING the body (I do not know the medical facts of IVF)? If you are altering your body, it is against Sikhi. But IVF is, I guess, a medical procedure, and if something is required for medical necessity, then it is not against Sikhi and becomes a strictly personal decision.
I must add that you might explore natural or homeopathic treatments for infertility. They are cheaper and not so hard on the body. Then the question of IVF being against Sikhi or not is moot point.
