To my sister who posted about the mistreatment in her punjabi class (elizabeth.)

I think the way you were treated is disgusting and unnacceptable. This is in no way how sikhs should act (ironic that they should say you are not sikh because of your colour.) I find it extremely humourous when punjabis/indians seem to think sikhism is exclusive to brown skinned people; this is far from the truth and goes completely against the message of our gurus. Common sense serves me that our gurus wouldnt have preached to lands far and wide, if they wanted sikhism to be exclusive (i wont even mention the countless banis which emphasize this point.)

Iam so glad there are non cultural sikhs such as yourself (and my brothers and sisters at sikhnet.com) who bring purity into the sangat; to me,sikhs like you are the true khalsa. I dont wish to degrade all the sangat who are from asian origin, but i find their view on sikhism to be a mish mash of culture. These so called sikhs, are more than often than not, just punjabi. Nothing more, nothing less. And I feel so much happiness when i see sikhi flourish, as it has and does, because i find asian sikhs are losing their belief- so the khalsa lies within the western sangat i.e those who embrace and follow sikhi to gurus rehit (and dont pick and mix.)

Keep your faith strong sister, and remember- guru ji will be pointing and laughing at those fools who think they have any ownership over him just because they were born on the same soil.
I hope the khalsa spread out of india, and continous to do so, because khalsa in india is almost non existant.

May guru ji bless you and give you strength to forgive the foolishness of these people.

Waheguru!
