I wanted to know if the 10 Gurus are gods? If Guru Granth Sahib say something in this regard please provide the quote from GuruBani. Another question, does Guru Granth Sahib Ji say some thing about meat eating ? If we can eat meat is there certain meat that we should eat?(I dont mean Jhatka or Non Jhatka, i mean beef or pork) I would greatly appreciate your response to the above questions.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
Dear One:

Please search this youth forum using keywords 'meat' to find numerous replies about why Sikhs should not eat meat.

Throughout Siri Guru Granth Sahib's bani, you will find (english) references to the effect of "the Guru is the Lord and the Lord is the Guru." What this means is that the Guru has realized God, and in that union, knows no difference between Guru (self) and God (all, or The One). No, the 10 Gurus were not gods in the hindu sense (as in Indra, Brahma, etc). They were enlightened beings who had the experience of the One who created All.

For that matter, you will also find references in Siri Guru reminding each of us that we can know God as the Gurus did, through meditation on the Naam, and that the one who does this is the Lord and the Lord is that one. Throughout Guru Gobind Singh's Jaap Sahib, you will also find references to this effect, if you study it. If you cannot see God in all, you cannot see God at all!

I do not have references handy; I suggest you get yourself an English translation of Siri Guru and start reading it from any page; within a few pages, you will see what I am talking about, I am certain. You can do this right on this Sikhnet Web site. Even though we don't understand ALL of what we read in Siri Guru (in english or Gurmukhi), there is still much to be learned by trying. I recommend you do this for yourself. (Another thing to do is to subscribe to the daily Hukumnama (from Sri Darbar Sahib) off Sikhnet.)

Guru Rakha,
-DKK
