Hi,

Do sikhs wash there hair?... Someone once told me they wern't aloud to, or didn't. Is that true?

I would also like to know what kind of things they wear, (e.g. the knifes, the braclets,) and what they are all called.

Thank you for your time

Sat Nam.
Yes, Sikhs wash their hair. The body is a temple for Divinity. Not washing hair would be like not washing the Temple floors. Sikhs are indeed instructed to bathe, and whoever told you that Sikhs are not allowed to wash their hair is all wrong.

The Sikh bracelet is called kara. The Sikh 'knife' is called kirpan. Sikh hair is called kesh. The wooden comb for the hair is called kanga. And the special underdrawers are called kacheras. You can search http://www.sikhnet.com/sikhism and look at the chapter on Rehit Maryada to understand why these 5 'Ks' are worn by Sikhs.
God bless you,
