Sat Sri Akalji:

First of I would like to say Thanks to all you moderators that spend so much time answering questions, and taking time guiding our Sikh youth. I relize it's taking time away from your personal life and your own time for spiritual practices, so thank you.
This is not really a question but more of a comment about The Guru's having more then one wife. I once read that Guru Nanak would encourage taking another wife or husband after one had died, to discourage the sati practices that were going on. (where after her husband died a widow must throw herself onto the flames where they were burning her dead husband) I relize that you were perhaps talking about taking more then one wife at one time, but i thought that maybe i should add this bit of information to this and help u out a bit (i just hope this actually does help.)

Sat Siri Akaal. Thanks for your comments. You're right. Guru Nanak and those that came after him preached against satee --both the action and the thinking behind it. And you are right that earlier posts refer to multiple wives at the same time. Thanks again. Guru ang sang,
-DKK
