Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle (GGSSC) Canada Sevadars had been pondering over the idea of how we can engage our Canadian kids in Guruji’s Birthday Celebrations? To start with a small competition was announced on the Gurpurab of Guru Nanak Devji. The kids in the weekly residential keertan function participated with full vigor. The same was then announced publicly for the birthday of Guru Gobind Singhji. The sevadars were overwhelmed by the response: a whopping 575 registrations. The final day ended up with 360 screenings, where each candidate shared his favorite sakhi on Guru Gobind Singhji. The best part was that everybody won. Each kid received a $20 Gift Coupon from TOYS-R-US or STAPLES depending on their age group

SuperSikh Competition was held at Scarborough Sikh Temple on January 6th 2008. S. Jagdish Singh (National Coordinator-Canada) congratulated GGSSC Canada for their great planning and diligence to carve out this highly successful event. S. Surinderpal Singh who was the event coordinator for SuperSikh announced that this was the first attempt to execute this non traditional method of sikhi parchar and we will definitely learn a lot today to help us be even better for the coming events. One of the parents Raju Singh commented “ I cannot imagine how much work must have been done to pull this program together. I wish Guruji bless all sevadars of GGSSC Canada to keep coming up with great programs like this”.

GGSSC Canada is planning to roll out these events in the other cities in North America and would encourage those interested in running similar events to get in touch with S.Bir Singh at 416 565 1281 or visit www.ggssc.ca for more information.
