Why is it necessary to do Nitnem apart from the fact that it is asked by our Gurus?

Sat Siri Akaal. To a devoted Gursikh, the fact that the Gurus gave us Nitnaym as a daily practice is reason enough!

Fact is that Nitnaym is a technology of sorts. Recitation of the banis in Nitnaym balances the 5 elements in the body, connects your spirit and soul to Guru, and reinforces the Gurbani Naad (sound current) in one's inner self(what Gurbani calls is known as anahat shabd, or unstruck music.) What more reason does any Sikh need?
