hello. i was looking at a sikh callender on a sikh website and i found that it said that on march 14th its new years day. i am confused because i thought that it was new years days for sikhs on april 14th (baisakhi day) can you please help me because im confused.

(REPLY) Sat Nam. Sorry, I have no idea why March 14 was listed. In the West, we always celebrate Baisakhi (anniversary of the first Amrit ceremony - given by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699) on April 13th, but I know elsewhere they mark it as April 14th. I've never heard it called "New Years day" -- although it definitely seems like a good opportunity to recommit, and get a fresh new start! blessings, SP
