HI, i have a question about destiny. it says In the Guru Granth Sahib that everyone has a destiny and everything that happens is already written. so does that mean that ur career,who ur going to marry, etc already written. if it is, whats the point of trying in life to achieve a good career and other things.

another thing is there anyway of finding what ur destiny, because my parents were telling me a saint they knew in India predicted their futures and it really happen. also i have feeling in me that i might never get married and be alone for rest of my life, and not have a good job and get depresed thinking about this, what should i do about this.

Greetings Dear one, in the name of the Guru, the Light of every Sikh.

Destiny is written on your forhead. BUT, you can live to it or not. The destiny is a path of your highest potential that is written for you. It takes constant effort on your part to be true to your self, your discipline and your calibre to achieve that destiny.

On the other hand is fate. Fate is what happens to you if you do not exert effort. It is the difference between rowing your boat or letting it go with the current. If you row, you can avoid the rocks and reach the goal of the destiny that is written for you. If you do not work, the boat will go as it pleases and you will only go downstream.

Consciously choose the destiny Guru has written for you and be straight and true. Do not let your fate suck you down through depression and feeling helpless.

If you are to be married, it will be so. Marriage is a carriage (karaj) that will carry you to the fulfillment of your destiny. But it is not easy. It is a work.

Right now you must make yourself so beautiful and radiant in your own identity that God Himself will want to come and sit in your lap and hug you.
