Sat Sri Akaal!

I have recently converted to sikhism and wear an iron kara. I have recently noticed a rust colored band of stain around my fore arm where my kara stops. It is also happening to my friend who als recently converted.

I know that wearing copper sometimes stains the skin a green color, but it almost never does that to me.

My kara is not rusty. Any ideas as to what it could be from? Is this normal?

Sat Siri Akal

Your kara is iron and so is always rusting. What usually happens is when you sleep, moisture from your body causes the Kara to rust on your skin where it sits all night. I have found that painting the inside of your Kara with clear nail polish every so often helps.

God bless,
SSK

Also, make sure your kara is pure iron, Sarb Loh, or stainless steel. A kara made of inferior iron or steel will rust whereas these will not.
