I have to questions
ok the first is I have a family member who wears a turban and she is a girl. I think that there is nothing wrong with a gorl wearing a turban and she feels very strong about wearing it. It is just one of me cousins and I who think it is ok. The rest of the family thinks she shouldn't wear it they say that she is a girl and shouldn't wear it what do you think?

My second question is the cast system, Most of my family believes in it and some don't. Some tell my to believe in it and some tell me not to. How do you all fell about the cast system and should i not believe in it?
(REPLY) Not only are women equal to men, and should be accorded all the privileges and opportunities given to men, but according to Guru Nanak they should be given an even higher place of honor! In Siri Guru Granth Sahib he talks about how important women are! So, congratulations to the girl in your family who wears a turban! She is courageously identifying herself as a Sikh of the Guru! And furthermore, Khalsa knows no gender! The idea of treating women as inferior creatures is not acceptable. Neither is it acceptable to judge people according to any "caste" system. That is an ancient and outdated attitude. As Sikhs, we are taught to accept all people as spiritually equal. The Hindu caste system was thrown out by all of our Guru's teachings. Culturally the caste system has been harder to erase from some families. It is time - after more than 500 years of the inspired and divine guidance of our Guru that we, as Sikhs recognize that all people are to be respected for their individual merits, and not judged according to the color of their skin, or their family history! What do you believe in your heart? You must decide for yourself what values you will use as guidelines for your life. May God bless you and Guru inspire you to recognize Truth, and live the Truth! SP
