Why is Sikhism Against Contraception?

----

I am not aware of any where in the Sikh rehit where it is stated that we cannot use contraception. Infact, I have always thought that we Sikhs believe in making a conscious decision and planning for conception. Isn't it better to be ready and prepared emotionally, spiritually, physically and financially for having a family? It seems that children who are wanted and welcomed by healthy parents will be happier and more stable contributors to society. Isn't it better to have fewer gems that can radiate and uplift others?
