Category:Other
Date Posted:Friday, 12/15/2000 2:56 AM MST

Hi,

I am orignally from India. And I started school in the U.S. in the second grade. I kept true to my self, but I think I am Gay. I don't know how to tell my parents. I'm in love with this boy named Evan Takayama (he's my boyfriend)!Being Sikh is it "okay" to be gay? Does the religion still accept you? If so how are the marriages conducted? Are there any Sikh support groups?

Thanks,
Harnoor

Greetings to you in the Name of God the light of every soul and in the Name of Guru the life of every Sikh.

Dear one, there are no same sex marriages in the Sikh Gurdwara. The marriage is a bond of the male-female polarities to walk through life in a sacred format for living in devotion and raising children to live to their highest destiny of God consciousness.

The Sikh way of life sees that all people are creations of the One God. We are all part of the many forms of God's creation. Therefore, we are all accepted.

We do not focus on sex for sex sake. Our entire Sikh lifestyle is geared toward directing your mind to be focused on your totality; your God consciousness. If you are thinking about boyfriends and sexual relations you mind is absorbed in passions and feelings.

A Sikh support group would be one to assist you to becoming a better Sikh not a better homosexual.
