A fundamental teaching of the Sikh religion is to do community 'Sewa'. With uncut nails, your hands become disabled and you no longer can serve others, you will no longer be able to cook food, wash, hold a Gutka, help elderly people and those in need, comb you hair, indeed the list goes on. Hence we cut our nails but not our hair. Long hair is considered a mark of a holy person and may be considered the roots of a Sikh. So like a tree with no roots, a Sikh with no roots will be blown over in this world. God bless those who read this, please forgive any mistakes.
