Summary of Question:Legality Of Wearing Kirpan Under British Law
Category:General Sikhism
Date Posted:Saturday, 3/24/2001 11:34 AM MDT

Waheguru ji ka khalsa, waheguru ji ki fateh,

Could you kindly let me know if Sikhs are allowed under British Law to carry the kirpan. Has there been any reference to this in any statute or in British Criminal law. If so what is the appropriate size allowed. If not, what is one to do if one is stopped by either the police or any local institution ie. school or the local swimming pool.

Dear Parvinder Singh--
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Kee Fateh.

Veerji, I do not know the answer to your question; all the current Youth Forum moderators are US citizens in USA. I will post this to the forum now and hope that someone in UK knows and will reply or get you on the right track to answer this question.

Guru Rakha,
