Dear One;

Sat Siri Akal Ji. Good question - I answered the one you referred to. As I understand it from an early lecture by Yogi Bhajan, the banis that Amritdhari Sikhs currently keep daily were defined in the early part of the 20th century. Anand Sahib is 40 pauris long. And, because of the British rulers in India at the time (who didn't appreciate how much time Sikhs spent in daily prayer/simran), the then governing body of the Sikhs (pre-SGPC I think, but don't quote me!) changed things. They shortened required bani. Rehiras Sahib used to be much longer (you can still find Nitnayms with the long version). Part of shortening the daily cycle was making Anand Sahib part of Rehiras, with the first 5 pauris and the 40th pauri.

That said, I know a lot of Amritdhari Sikhs who recite full Anand Sahib daily, along with the shortened version in Rehiras. It is a beautiful bani, I urge you to study it.

Guru Rakha,
