What is the correct way to do this meditation?

Sat Nam. This mantra has been given in several meditations by Yogi Bhajan. Simplest is to sit with a STRAIGHT spine (in a chair with feet flat or on the floor, legs crossed), close the eyes, hold your hands in gyan mudra (with thumb and forefinger touching) and chant it very steadily on one breath.
