WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA

WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH

I was born and raised in a sikh family and had strong faith in the religion, however over the years i slowly began to lose faith. I then went to university and lived out in halls and it was there were i rediscovered my faith.

The problem i have is because i have lived away from home, i spotted many problems at home which influenced me to lose my faith in the first place. I have younger siblings(aged 18,17 and 15) and when i go home to visit them they say they do not believe in any religion and that there is no god, this is very painful for me. When i try to tell them and explain that there is a god and they should do paath they argue with me. They show no care for each other and my mother doesn't help, in a way she has fuelled this, by questioning the existance of god in the first place and continously 'brainwashing' my siblings. My father has given up with them and keeps to himself as my siblings are now out of control, my parents' relationship has also deteriorated. This situation is becoming worse and worse, i dread coming home to visit them because they constantly shout at one another. It depresses me even though i pray, it has become so bad that they even steal from each other and my younger sisters go out to clubs and drink and my parents do not stop them and they do not listen to me even when i point out the dangers of what they are doing. I try to keep out of their way when i am at home but it is hard seeing as we are all under the same roof.

Please can you offer me some advice as to what to do, they do not listen to anything i say. they do not have any respect for themselves let alone anyone else and i fear for their destiny.

Wahe Guru Ji ka Khalsa
Wahe Guru Ji ki Fateh!

What you can do is the most powerful thing of all! Pray for them from your heart! You cannot convince them. You must not argue with them. Just love them as they are! See the soul, not the destructive behaviours. Just work on yourself. Your prayers are more powerful than you understand.
