Sat Sri Akal Ji

I am a gurusikh married to a Non sikh.
He is just not a sikh physically , but he has every quality a sikh and a good human being can have.
He organised 'Langar' in Gurudwara Saheb. He did lots and lots of Sewa.
He respects my religion-Sikhism a lot.He has never hurt a soul.
He respects elders.and is a Gem of a person. We have been married for 4 years and he takes me to Gurudwara whenever I want.
But unfortunately because by appearence he is not a sikh and he cannot speak or understand Punjabi, I have seen hatred in eyes of people in Gurudwara and this I have only seen in USA. When we were in India , i never had such experience.
And I read in one of the answers in Youth questions where its mentioned that Sikhism does not force anyone to convert. , but when we organised Langar , after everything was finished , the Jathedaar told my husband "hum to sikh ban ja" I really felt bad about it. My husband Politely replied "why can't i be a hindu and do sewa and visit Gurudwara"
I really feel bad.
Also I have seen so many photos of terrorists in Gurudwara instead of Guru's photos. People are dying , Killings , blood photos in Lanagr hall and this is the first time I have seen in my life in USA , never in india.
This my have bad effect on our kids and the terrorists have been refered as 'SHAHEEDS'.
I am really uncomfortable about this situation. Can you suggest something.
Regards.
(REPLY) Sat Nam. I don't know what part of America you are in. What you describe is certainly not according to the teachings of our Guru. In Los Angeles, California we have people of many faiths who come to Guru Ram Das Ashram Gurdwara. Non-Sikhs do seva of many kinds and all are welcomed. Guru Nanak taught us to respect all religions, so I don't know what kind of people are behaving as you have described. I am so sorry to hear it. Hari Mandir Sahib has doors open to all four corners of the world, symbolizing that we Sikhs welcome everyone, from everywhere. Unfortunately, not all of us live up to the teachings of the Guru. I hope you can find a Sikh Dharma Gurdwara, where you and your family can feel at home in the Guru's Court. May God bless you and Guru guide you to peace and happiness. SP
