Summary of Question:3Rd Eye And Naam Jaap?
Category:Meditation
Date Posted:Sunday, 1/19/2003 11:19 PM MST

Hello.

Throughout the day for the past few days I have been letting my attention rest on my third eye as much as I remember to. After awhile I started to feel pressure around there and in my head, as well as this sensation of space, or openness, which was somewhat pleasant. The pressure did not seem to result from tense muscles, and actually seemed to be 'inside' of my head. The sensation of space was felt when I breathed in or out, but not in between breaths.

What is happening? Is this normal? What else can I expect to happen if I continue keeping my attention on my third eye? How long would this take?

Thank you for your help.

Sunny.

Sunny,

The sensations you are experiencing are normal. When you focus on the 3rd eye, there will be a pressure, because the 3rd Eye is being stimulated to open. I would not practice this any time at all. I would, rather, do it in a very conscious and deliberate way, namely, sit down in a quiet place and set your self with the intention of doing a meditation. Begin by chanting Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo (3 times)and Aad Grev Nameh, Jugad Grev Nameh, Sat Grev Nameh, Siri Guru Day Vay Nameh (chant 3 times). These mantras will connect you to the Infinite and give you protection. Energy and opening the 3rd eye are not to be "played" with. It must be done consciously. After you chant those mantras begin breathing long, breathing into the stomach first, then bringing the breath into the chest - for 5 minutes. Then, start chanting Wha He Guru in 4 syllables, focusing the closed eyes at the 3rd eye. Continue for 11 minutes. Do this for 40 days and let me know how you are doing after that. My email address is [email protected] Guru is with you. GTKK
