Sat Sri Akal,

I am writing to you to ask you why you are not answering my recent questions I sent in. I sent in about 2-3 questions and its been over a month since I have sent them in. I also remember sending in a question about Diwali and look how long that has been.
Look, you are doing a providing a good service and the questions that you have answered have been very good. But now I found out that you guys charge money for certain bits of the website. If you are doing this then you are not doing seva but you are providing a service. And since some people have actually subscribed to the sikhnet membership, then don't you think they should get there monies worth.
If there are questions you cannot answer, you do not want to answer or do not know the answers to, then the least you could do is send an email saying that we have recieved your question but cannot answer it.
I really like this site, especially this forum, and always recommend it to other people, who may have questions about sikhi, but now I am seriously changing my mind about this site.
I am not bothered if this post gets shown on the forum but at least tell me why you guys are doing this? Why are you not providing a service, like any business should? This is what it has effictively become, a business.
I do not like to go around hurting other peoples feelings, so I apoligise if I have done so but I am just trying to become a better person with better knowledge of sikhi. My understanding of the Panjabi language is not that great and I understand english much better. There are very few places that a youth can go to ask questions like the ones asked in this forum and to ask them in english.

Thank you for your time,

Baljit

Sat Sri Akal,

While parts of Sikhnet require a paid membership, the Sikh Youth Forum is free for anyone to use. The Youth forum, to my knowledge, is not a business. I volunteer my time here, as do the other moderators, to help the youth from around the world understand their dharma better. Sometimes there are too many questions to able to respond to all of them in a complete manner. Sometimes if I don't know the answer I will leave it there for another moderator to answer. We don't have all the time in the world to come here and answer all the questions (and there A LOT of them) so we try to answer as much as possible as best as possible. I think it is better to respond to fewer questions but more completely, rather than doing a poor job on many questions. Generally, if you don't get a response, it probably means that we haven't researched the answer yet, or no one has had enough time to answer it properly. Additionally, a lot of questions asked can be answered if the asker had done just a little research on the internet. There are several excellent Sikhi websites that answer a lot of the quesions asked.

Gur Fateh,
HSD
