Sat Sri Akal,

I sent in a question, more than two weeks ago, subject title: Was Guru Nanak Dev Ji misunderstood as a child. I have not received a reply yet, and was wondering if it would be answered. It would be much appreciated if you would let me know if I would be getting an answer anytime soon or not.

Thank you very much.

We moderators have been very busy with summer events. Every summer, a couple of thousand people come to Espanola to take various courses. Many of us moderators have been busy with those events for the past 2 weeks+. Now about your question. I think it is pretty obvious that Guru Nanak was misunderstood as a child. His father, especially, kept trying to make him into a respectable contributor to society...by finding him jobs, etc. His sister, Nanaki, saw him for the great holy man that he was. I guess it is a lesson for all of us - as parents to see our children for who they are, not for who we want them to be...and for us children, to allow ourselves to be who we are, not who others want us to be. I hope this answers your question. GTKK
