Blessings. Becoming Amrit is a personal level of realisation and committment not a separatist or elitist attitude. I beleive that we are referring to a Sikh marrying a Sikh, not an Amritdhari Sikh wanting to marry outside the faith.

Better to marry a Sikh with the potential and probability to become baptised. The form of Khalsa Maryada is a technical way to live one's life with checks and balances. The main concern for the status of your partner is that they should be supportive to your committments as a baptized Sikh, rather than undermining your bond of Amrit. Everyone should be encouraged to take Amrit at some point in their life. The time when an individual feels ready to step into that level of experience is by the Grace of God and Guru. You cannot tell a person they must take Amrit, nor can you look down on a person because they have not taken Amrit.

Best is for an Amritdhari Sikh to marry someone who values Amrit as their optimal relationship with Guru and intends to become baptized even if they are not already Amritdhari.

God bless you, SKKK
