I was just wondering why All nine of the gurus before Guru Gobind Singh Ji
kept an unshorn head of hair and beard. I was taught that it was the tenth
guru's idead to keep unshorn hair. Did someone before Guru Gobind Singh Ji
come up with the idea, any reply would be greatly appreciated.

Only the Gurus know why they did what they did.
As to the looks of any of the Gurus - there are no known actual pictures or paintings of the Gurus make during their lifetime. The pictures that we see are the imagined versions of the painters of modern times.
However, unshorn hair have been a tradition of HOLY men thru the centuries. Moses, Christ, and other Prophets and Sages are all thought to have had unshorn hair. Therefore, it is natural to assume that all our Gurus also had unshorn hair - most probably because they may not have wanted to interfere with God's gift.
