Guru Fateh

i used to complete Sukhmani Sahib in 12 days when i started it 4 years back, by doing 2 ashtapadees daily...later on i started doing 4 and finishing it in 6 days (like you)...believe me, as long as i did it, i was happy, and since the day i stopped, my life has been nothing but a mess...i've been doing japji sahib for 70 days in a row now, and hope life will get better someday soon...by the way...i m wondering whats wrong in doing all the 5 banis in the morning, i mean, if someone doesnt find time later in the day, its best to do all 5 (japji, jaap, sawaiyye, rehras, sohila) early in the morning followed by ardas, rather than missing out any...am i right?

Sat Siri Akaal Ji.
Sounds like going back to Sukhmani might be a good thing for you; or including at least 11 minutes of Naam simran after or before your Japji Sahib would benefit your mind, which is key to improving one's life in Sikh teachings.

Anyway, thanks for the tip on ways to do Sukhmani when one can't do it all at once. I'd never thought of breaking up it up like that!

Elsewhere here it has been said that doing 5 banis sometime during the day is better than not at all. I know a fellow does his all at night, as a way to wind down. Sikhi is NOT about rules that if you break you are bad and unforgiveable! It is about disciplining oneself to live conciously the Guru's teachings. In today's world if a Gursikh can't do banis at the ideal or prescribed time, doing them some other time still serves the spirit and the soul, and the discipline for that one is to DO them when s/he can.
Guru fateh!
