Hi,

I mean I believe in god and i keep my hair and keep my sikhi roop but stopped doing patt for a month or so. I just need help to get back to doing patt. I try to get up in the morning to do patt , cant. And i even try to do patt during day time but dont feel like doing it. It feels like i am going to hell. HOw do i get into patt. and the other problems are that since i didnt achieve anything i wanted in life maybe thts why i stopped doing patt. I knw i shudnt make excuses for not doing patt.
My life is a totall mess, and on top of that i am not doing patt so it feels like hell now. I try to listen to shabd but for like only 5 minutes.
I need help, I wish I could get a sign from god. Some miracle that would pull me towards him. I just want to get back to doing patt.
Thanks for your help in advance.
(REPLY) Sat Nam. The secret of success in any endeavor is to keep up, and not to quit. You may not have achieved "anything you wanted in life" up until now, that doesn't mean that will always be the case. Are you 75 years old, and your life is over? Of course not! Some of the greatest people in the world met with failure consistently in their early life, but they didn't give up trying. (Abrham Lincoln was consistenly defeated when he ran for office in the United States. Thomas Editson had thousands of experiments fail until he finally succeeded!) By giving up, you throw away any chance for success. You say you "Want to do" patt, but perhaps you are equating it with your success - or failure - in life??? The reason for doing paath (I spell it differently, butyou know what I mean!) needs to be out of devotion, out of a desire to "tune in" to God and Guru. If your motivation changes, I think you will be OK. So called success or failure are karmic lessons. Reciting the Guru's bani is another thing altogether: to purify your subconscious, to change the patternings in your mind so that you live to your highest potential and fulfill your destiny, instead of surrendering to the negativity that is preventing you from doing what you say you want to do. The whole purpose of life is to unite with God. Meanwhile, if you are socially, financially, personally "successful" -- great, but if not, ultimately you - and everyone else -- leaves all that behind when we leave the body, and the only thing we take with us is the connection we have made with our own soul. So, I urge you to reframe your approach to doing "paath" -- and look at it as a "date" with someone you love! Like having a conversation with your beloved, by repeating his/her words! Try it. Doing is believing. May God and Guru bless you with devotion, commitment, and patience, SP
