can a sikh also be an athiest? I mean is it a sin to not believe in God, just sometimes you lose faith because of certain things that occur in life

No. Sikhs by definition are not atheists. Atheists do not believe in any kind of Supreme Being. Observant Sikhs do.

SIkhs, however, are NOT immune from a crisis of faith. If this is what you are experiencing, talk to other SIkhs or a local gyani or even seek regular counseling. Additionally, keep chanting the Naam to achieve a meditative mind and understand that the Creator's View of things is much greater than any of us, and that He always has a reason for what He does.
