Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, sri Waheguru ji ki fateh,

I attend a Catholic H.S. even though I am a Sikh. Recently, my theology class viewed the movie "ALIVE" which was basically about how crash victims resorted to eating human flesh as the last resort for their survival. Before eating, they looked at their own Catholic teachings which stated that when a person dies, his soul leaves his body and his body just remains a shell. But when my teacher asked me what I would do if I was in their situation, I did not have the slightest clue. Even though I know that the chances of me being in a plane crash in the mountains are very slim, I still would like to know what a Sikh would do and what rationalization they would use to justify their reasoning.
Thanks very much . . . WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, SRI WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH

Wahe Guru Ji Ka Khalsa,
Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh.

You know - in that moment - if you were faced with such a decision - it's not about whether you're a Sikh or Catholic or Atheist. It's about what your values are. Some people would do whatever it took to stay alive. Other people would say - I'm OK with dying and if this is the moment I die - fine and not eat anything.

In extreme circumstances - people will do extreme things. So -I'll give you my own personal answer, don't think of it as a "Sikh" answer. If the people were already dead and there was no other choice and there was every possibility that taking that step would keep me alive long enough to be rescued - I'd chant the Name, meditate and ask my own inner voice to tell me whether it was time to die or if I should take that step. And then, based on what that inner voice said - I'd act.

All love,

GPK
