Greetings to the Sikhs

I have not been a true sikh but lately wanted to know more bout our religion. I am 40 years old so i guess it better late then never.

I want to know what were we before we became sikhs. Some people tells me that we were muslims and other that we are decendents of the Areians and evolved when Alexandra the Great invaded India. Can any one shead some light on this or give a site were i can get this information. I have searched Sikhnet without success.

Thanks a million.

(REPLY) Sat Nam. If you're looking for a history of the Sikhs, then you might want to read Max Macauliffe's "The Sikh Religion" Obviously, before Guru Nanak's "sishyas" (students) became the first "Sikhs" those people were mostly either Hindus or Muslims. The important thing is what you are NOW! And what do you intend to do about it? Studying from Siri Guru Granth Sahib, reciting BAnis daily will open up your mind and nourish your soul and you will receive the guidance to fulfill your highest destiny.
