i asked my granny the same thing coz shes into all the old folk tales.

They say:
Dont wash your hair on tuesdays coz its extremely bad luck (but i never received a propper explanation)
Dont wash your hair on thursdays if you have one brother as its bad luck for him.

However these saying are old folks tales and supersition, and as sikhs were not really supposed to believe in them.

Sat Nam. You are correct, they are not a part of our Sikh faith or belief. They may come from Hindu correlation of the days of the week with the planets, Tuesday being Mars day, Thursday is Jupiter or "guru's" day -- the part about the brother is obviously some superstition. Old superstitions are hard to get over, they are the kind of beliefs that Guru Nanak tried to eliminate! blessings, SP
