I was just wondering why it is wrong to clapp along to shabads?
Sat sri Akhal,
Harjeet Kaur
(REPLY) Sat Nam. It is my understanding tht shabds are played as an offering to God and Guru, they are not "performances" for the approval of the "audience."
The Gurdwara is the Guru's Court, and a protocol and atmosphere of reverence and devotion would ideally be maintained. the sadh sangat should be able to meditate and or sing along with the ragis, to experience the Guru's sacred words.(which is why I find it so strange that in some Gurdwaras people carry on conversations during the kirtan!)
