im in high school in the seattle area. i am searching for a job. like any type of job, mcdonalds or watever. i've applied to around 10-15 places many of them with now hiring signs. however none of them have called me back. in a few of the instances i have applied before and a friend of mine applied a week-two later and he got the job. this is making me real angry because i am beginning to think places r not hiring me because i am a sardar. i know i dont need a job right now i only turned 16. i just want 2 save up for college because i know that will be a financial load on my family, and i have two younger sisters. please help me. what should i do. no one is hiring me becuase of my joora.

In the United States, it is illegal for someone to be discriminated against because of their religion. My humble suggestion is that you contact the Sikh Coalition and see if they can help you determine whether you have been discriminated against. If so, they can give you ideas of what to do.

In the meantime, don't loose faith. Keep applying for jobs. It may be that the Guru has something better in mind for you than MacDonalds. Find other Sikhs in Seattle who own their own businesses and see if they need help. You may find that the perfect job is waiting for you - it just might take a little time and effort to find it.
