hi. i was wondering is mahatma gandhi good or bad. at school we were learning about peacemakers and my teacher brought him up. my parents and other sikhs that i know say that he was in on jalia dha bhag- sry i have no clue on how to spell that in english and if he was a peacemaker he could have prevented it. Also there was a movie about shaheed bhagat singh and in the movie, gandhi was told to sign a paper that would save bhagat from being hanged but gandhi refused. i was wondering if u could clarify this. is good or bad?

Sat Siri Akaal. This is for your to decide for yourself. See the movie "Gandhi" (it's on video, maybe on DVD too). It was made in the 1980s. Read about Gandhi and decide for yourself. He did a great deal to change the consciousness of India, but it seems his focus was Hindu-Muslim, and Sikhs were not included; notice I said 'seems'... I am not going to say he was all good or all bad. No one is perfect. He was certainly a courageous man, this cannot be denied. It's not the life you lead, it's the courage you bring to it. Perhaps if there were more Gandhi's in this world, we would have peace.
