Summary of Question:	Why Do I See True Sikhs Wearing Leather?

Sat Sri Akal jee,

for the last couple of months I have been pondering about this idea of why it isn't good to eat meat if i'm following the sikh religion or any other. Well I found the answer from the other postings that people have put up.
Though, I don't understand why some sikhs that don't eat meat and follow the SGGS wear clothing made of meat. I commonly see true sikhs and even the Bhai's (unless i'm wrong) wearing belts, shoes that are made of leather or any other meat. At times they are carrying bags made of meat. I have asked my parents this question before, and they truely do not know the answer.
I see sikhs that are vegitarians and they believe that eating meat is bad and it is implied some how in the readings of the sikh people that this is true. (SGGS)
I just wanted to know what are your thoughts on this idea?
Are they right, wrong.
I think if their wearing clothing made of meat they essentially are eating the meat. (If thought of it theoretically)

You have a very good point. It all comes back to consciousness. The most important thing is what is in your consciousness, which will guide you in your actions. It is not my job, or your job to judge others. If you feel that you would be a hypocrite for wearing leather, than by all means, don't do it. Sikhism is not about rituals and dogmas just for their sake. Sikhism is about consciousness, which comes from within. Yes, the Gurus gave us a rehit, but each of us must go within to examine our consciousnesses and then live our lives accordingly. Inspire by being a model of what you feel is Truth for yourself. Preaching and judgement will never do it. May Guru guide you in your search. GTKK
