Summary of Question:	Adoption In India?

My mom had dated a guy who had adopted a baby straight from India when he was no more than 2 months old. I was just wondering how adoption works over there. For some reason I thought that it would be considered "bad" or "wrong." Can you help me clear this up? Thanks a lot! :)

I do not think it is typical for Indians to adopt unknown Indian children (they will adopt children of blood relatives though). Beyond that, the international adoption scene in the USA is generally about orphaned children getting adopted by white folks here in the US. There are a bunch of reputable adoption agencies with offices here in the US that exist for just this purpose, whether for Chinese, Indian, Russian, Korean, or other foreign-born orphans. How adoption WITHIN India works, I have no idea. Search it out. Thanks. Blessings.
