Summary of Question:Reference To Bowing To Human Baba Ji
Category:General Sikhism

Out right answer NO to this question seems rather harsh.

As far as i understand, "Human" baba jis do not ask to be matha teked to or be called baba ji.
These are all acts carried out by the sadh sangat - out of their own love.
Just as we matha tekh to Guru Granth Sahib Ji, if one has not the full understanding of bani and goes to obtain answers and guidence from human baba jis - and in turn gives them respect and wants to matha tekh them - where is the harm in that? Is it still wrong? Is it not just like when we matha tekh or peri hath laa our parents?
I agree that it would be wrong to matha tekh a human baba ji in the main darbar - where Guru Granth Sahib Ji are kept - but otherwise - is it really wrong?

Dear one,

There is NO reason to 'Bow' or "matha tek", to any human being. You can show respect by touching the knees. But actuallly putting your forehead on the floor is a mistake.

The Guru has given us this human body which contains all God's wisdom and truth. Each one of us has the capacity to be God conscious. That is why we do not need to bow to any person. Before, we bowed to the Guru's when they were in human form. Then, Guru Gobind Singh gave us the word of the Guru embodied in the Siri Guru Granth and the "Rehit Marada" to develop our God consciousness.

Baba-ji's and Sants are great, but so are you when you start applying yourself to your own daily experience of your Guru.
