Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh,

This Is not really a question, But i went to the Guru Arjundev ji Gurudwara, in Derby (east Midlands, England) today and A warning was sent out to the sangat. The sangat were also asked to ring all their reletives to let them know. I thought i would let sikhnet know about the issue, so that sikhs all around the world could be warned.

There is a man who's surname is KUMAR, who is taking quotations out of the gurugranth sahib and using them to turn sikhs away from sikhi. He goes to gudwara's and centres all around England preaching his new found faith to women, who are then told to go home and persuade their families to convert.

The sangat were informed that there are a number of woman who were following his path and the gurudwara committee are extremely worried that this man may have the power to bring sikhi to an end. Now i know that is a bit extreme but i suppose anything is possible.

There are pictures up at the gurdwara to let the sangat know what he looks like. He has shoulder length hair and wear a flower garland around his neck. The sangat were informed that the Guru Arjundev Ji Gurdwara's committee were informing other gurudwaras in the country.

I would not ahve sent you this message unless it seemed very serious, but the sangat were very alarmed by the issue.

I know that it is not really a lot of information but im sure more information can be found from other gurudwara's.

I can understand that you may not want to post this on your website and thats fine but i wanted to warn as many people as possible.

Sat Siri Akaal. Thank you for the warning. What is important to realize is that the women/folks being converted probably do not understand Siri Guru Granth (generally, I'm not talking about every shabd!) or what Sikhi is really about. So, that makes it easy for them to believe what they hear, rather than finding out for themselves by studying SGGS. It seems this is really an issue for gurdwara leadership in England or anywhere. Because if Gurdwaras were true centers of Sikhi, and really took an interest in Guru's teachings and the spirituality of our faith, instead of politics or social status stuff, they would not have their members so easily swayed by one who misrepresents himself and Guru's teachings. Sikhi will not die. Perhaps the gurdwara leaders who are so worried about losing members will organize a debate between Kumar and their local Sikh gyanis so that Kumar can be exposed for what he is.
Guru ang sang,
-DKK
