Sat Sri Akal,

I just read "Freedom to Love" which was posted on 11/07/03 and felt like writing something about it. I really find it funny when I see people use religion according to their ease. I mean when it comes to marriage then youngersters start telling their elders that "Let us decide whom should we want to spend our life with". I'm not an old person, I'm a young girl. And I totally agree that if someone chooses a life-partner then the family should atleast consider the liking of their kids and advice them if there's something wrong that they see in the person. And everyone has a right to choose their life-partner. Parents should make their kids wise enough so that they can make wise decisions and parents should trust their children's decisions.

But the only thing, I dont understand is that how come youngerster use religions when they want to marry someone out of caste or religion. I mean in general, they dont even know the importance of religion. All they know is that they belong to this religion or that religion. They dont bother to learn religion but when they want to justify their points; then, they use it very easily. They complain to their parents when their parents ask them to marry someone of their choice. But have they ever asked their parents that I want to learn sikhism? I want to keep my hair? I want to learn GURBANI? I want to take amrit because our GURUS told us to become khalsa.

I hope I havent hurt anyone's feelings and If I did then I apologize. Sat Sri Akal.

(REPLY) Thanks for taking the time to express your thoughts and feelings.
