Summary of Question:Am I A Sikh?

I have grown up as a Sardar all my life. I always knew in my heart, as well, that Sikhism is my religion and always will be. However, lately I have been questioning how religious I am. I do not agree with few Sikhism beliefs. For example: I do not believe that my destiny is based on my karma and I do consume alcohol occasionally. However, I do keep my hair uncut and do attend Gurdwara. Am I still a Sikh? And if so, to what extent?

(REPLY) Sat Nam. No one can tell you the answer to your question. It's between you and your Guru. A Sikh is a student of Truth. You can choose not to believe in the Law of Karma if you wish, but it's like not believing in the law of gravity! It happens to be real! As for alcohol, you are free to pollute your system, and dishonor the physical vehicle that God gave you in this lifetime if you so choose. But if you are feeling guilty, that might be a good indication that something isn't right in your life. May God bless you and Guru guide you in righteousness so that you may fulfill your desinty gracefully in this lifetime. SP
