Summary of Question:	What Is The Meaning Of Taking Amrit?

I am born in a Sikh family and my parents have thought me a bit about sikhi and path.

But they have never explained me what takin amrit actually means and becoming a Amritdhari.
I want to take it, i'm even trying to start do all my 5 banis in the morning [though i'm still on Jaapji Sahib].

Sat nam. There are hundreds of posts on this site concerning Amrit. Please review some of them (search "Amrit" in the search bar). I'm sure you will find out by reviewing what has already been posted.
