Hi!

im am such a bad person.
ive read about masturbation on ur site, and i read in the rehat maryada that is it a sin. so therefore u must get punished for this sin right? like you sed wot u reap is wot u sow. im an amritdhari person (female) and i have done it. i feel so bad, and i keep thinking im gonna get sooo punished. ive already bin through enuf dukh as it is, im so gona get more. its my own fault. is there any prayers i can do so i dont get punished for it? please help, im in so much pain. i think the guilt itself is enuf punishment. will i get punished?

Sat Nam! Your problem isn't masturbation. Your problem is guilt, shame and low self-esteem. Karma is produced by intent. I doubt that you have any bad intent when you masturbate. Please understand correctly the meaning of "sin." A "sin" is anything that takes you away from experiencing your own divine union with the Infinite. A "sin" is an action that makes you forget who you really are. You seem to have a very strong sense of shame and guilt. THAT is the sin, not masturbating which is insignificant compared to your guilt. A daughter of Guru Gobind Singh never has anything to be guilty about. It is your own feelings that you must deal with. Is your sadnana strong? Is your relationship with your Guru strong? Take your guilt and give it to the Guru and get on with your life. The only punishment you will receive is the daily punishment you are giving yourself.
