Summary of Question:Why Is It There Are No Women Granthi In Harmandir Sahib?
Category:General Sikhism

It is a very simple question.....Women and Men in Sikhism have equal rights in Sikhism and there is no distinction in duties they can perform in Gurudwara. So why is it so that the most sacred of places like Harmandir Sahib does not allow women granthis. Really appreciate an answer to this question which I have found no answer for past 16 years

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!

The answer is quite simple. You are quite correct that there is no teaching of Sikhi which would prevent women from playing kirtan or being granthis in Harimandir Sahib. It is cultural bias only which prevents this, not the teachings of the Gurus.
