hi, i would just like to give some input to elizabeth ji's question on ego.

ego in gubani is 'haumeh' - pronounced hau-meh, which means 'be-i'. this is the nature of our individual existance/mind. we cannot escape from this.

however if god grants his glance of grace, we are freed from our ego state, and then we are living a totally diff state of existance- a liberated one.

in japji Guru Nanak says: "naanak hukmai jay bujhai ta ha-umai kahai na ko-ay"
(if God's nature strikes you will not say 'I am').
