Sat nam. Maya is illusion. While the things of this world are real in the sense of experience, they are not the sum total of the universe, the Creation. However, humans get caught up in thinking that what we have here, on this planet, IS the Be-all. It's just a small piece of it. So references in Gurbani to maya are references to this illusion.
