i would like to give my point of view on this issue & also comment on what other people have said.

im 21 yrs old & lived in england all my life. i dont get drunk, my parents aren't that strict, my knowledge of sikhism isn;t that great (about 6/10), but yet i have not dated a non-sikh male, in fact i haven't dated anyone.

i think the issue about sikh girls dating non-sikh guys isnt about the stuff i mentioned above, its about how you are as a person. i dont want to date because i want to wait for the right person, i dont drink because its bad for health & u can have fun & enjoy life without alcohol. i know a many other sikh girls like me too.

my parents aren't that strict, which in turn makes me feel that they must trust me a lot, hence i dont want to do something that will hurt them. i actually think that many sikh parents are too strict on their daughters & hence the daughters want to rebel & break free & do these things.

you also have to look at our multicultural society in the uk today. people cant help getting attracted to people who arent the same race/religion etc - our hearts dont follow these rules!! however, i know a few sikh girls who have been with muslims and been converted etc - thats up to them. if they make a mistake in life then they will pay for it. they knew the facts beforehand about what some muslim boys do, but still they take the risk.

finally, all i would like to say is that please dont judge us sikh girls-not all of us are good, not all of us a bad, we are a varied bunch & variety is the essence of life else we'd be quite boring!! a message to the sikh guys - before u judge us sikh girls look at yourselves 1st! ive seen u in clubs etc getting totally drunk, dating non-sikh girls - why is it ok for you to do all that stuff & not for the sikh girls? and dont be under the misconception that we all want clean shaven guys- many sikh girls dont!! so if u wear a turban be proud of it - dont let it hinder u in finding a girl because there is somebody made for everyone!
